Her writing is engaging and enjoyable, making these books a delightful read. The Essence: Leigh Bardugo outdoes herself when it comes to Six of Crows and the Crooked Kingdom. For more reviews and information, go to Goodreads.By Geneive D’Souza | Opening Doorz Editorial | December 06, 2021 The Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo can be found in the young adult section in bookstores and they are in the fantasy genre. I would also recommend searching up the trigger warnings for these books because the characters have pretty heavy backstories. It is a bit hard to understand at first, but eventually the world and the magic system is easy to understand. However, once you reach around the second chapter the book turns very fast-paced and the long chapters are excused. The only relatively “bad” things I could ever say about these books is that the start of the first one is pretty slow and the chapters are very long. These are very easy books to fall in love with and they are the best in the whole series (in my opinion). The writing is gorgeous, as well as the world and the places set within it that are discovered as the books progress. The main characters are super lovable and you can really see the individual relationships and friendships grow. The characters in these books are very diverse and are all very complex but they all go through their individual character development and we the readers get to witness it first-hand.

Bardugo is an incredible author and she knows how to draw readers in and write a book that is incredibly difficult to put down. I read these books the summer before my sophomore year and I absolutely loved them. The books have POV’s from all six characters and have impeccable world-building.

This particular duology involves a dangerous heist that Kaz Brekker and his crew of outcasts set in the magical fantasy world of Ravka, more specifically, the city of Ketterdam. Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom are the only books you can read alone but I would recommend reading all of them for the full experience. The Grishaverse consists of different groups of characters going on entirely different journeys set in the same universe. First is the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, then comes the Six of Crows Duology, and finally the latest duology which are the Rule of Wolves books. These books– Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom – are the second installment in the entire series by Bardugo, deemed the Grishaverse Series. Bardugo has become one of the most popular books on social media and understandably so.
